Danny Assabgy — BuildBuddy: how a traditional builder created a platform to help homeowners bypass the builder's margin
BuildBuddy — empowering homeowners to build their own homes and save 20% or more.
BuildBuddy is an intelligent, all-in-one platform that allows homeowners with no prior construction experience to design, manage, and build their own homes while saving 20% or more by cutting out the builder's margin. When a customer challenged traditional builder and Hudson Homes CEO Danny Assabgy that anyone could do a better job building a house, it sparked a radical pivot.
Danny realised that building is simply a structured workflow, a curated trade network, and expert oversight. Three years and millions of dollars later, he turned that insight into a platform currently managing over $160 million in construction work.

In their words
“Mate, I've got 550 homes in construction. You've got one. You know? It's the most important home ever built, which is, which is your own home.” — Danny Assabgy
“What we've created, we're calling collaborative construction. And in this model, there's no middleman. It's just you and the tradespeople working together.” — Danny Assabgy
“Unlike some of the tradie websites where it's a race to the bottom, you know, cheapest price wins, I want to say to the framing carpenter, if you look after Mr. and Mrs. Smith and they give you a great review, the next time you submit a quote, they're gonna read your reviews.” — Danny Assabgy
